Testimonials
Okay, buckle up, because this is not going to be a short review. You have to understand that I’ve been teaching music for 35 years, and in that time I’ve collaborated with a lot of other musicians/teachers. When I rang John and explained that I have never played pedal steel guitar in my life and would like a one hour lesson (with the aim of playing Greensleeves by the end) he accepted the challenge immediately.
As a teacher, at no point was he the “sage on the stage” - for the whole hour, he was the “guide on the side”. John paced the lesson perfectly and always spoke in a clear, calm manner. He knows his stuff and was able to problem-solve the best keys and tempo for me to be able to achieve my goal. He knew exactly when to try alternate positions on the instrument and which phrases would be the more difficult to play and thus, require the most time. To put it in plain terms, this was one of the most rewarding 60 minutes of music-making I have had in my entire life. Huge thanks, John!

I had been searching for a pedal steel guitar instructor off and on for a few years and I couldn't have asked for a better guide than John McNally. Beginning with our first lesson, it was evident that John's passion for music and expertise in pedal steel guitar were exceptional. His patience, encouragement, and personalized approach to teaching have made learning an absolute joy.
What sets John apart is his dedication to his students' success. Beyond his expertise as a musician and instructor, John is a genuinely kind and supportive mentor. His enthusiasm for sharing his love of music is infectious, creating a nurturing and inspiring learning environment where I feel motivated to push boundaries and explore new horizons.
I'm an "old man" that has been playing 6 string guitar most of my life but in just two months, John has not only transformed my approach to pedal steel guitar but has also instilled in me a profound sense of confidence and excitement for the musical journey ahead. I am incredibly grateful for his guidance and mentorship and eagerly anticipate continuing this enriching musical adventure under his tutelage.
With all that being said, I must emphasize how delighted I am with John as an instructor. His proficiency across multiple instruments makes him a standout choice for any type of instruction he provides. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone seeking guidance in their musical journey.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my drum lessons with John over the past six months. The one-on-one time has allowed me to focus on specific drumming techniques, resulting in drastic improvements.
John is patient, and his explanations and demonstrations make the lessons easy to understand and far from intimidating. His teaching style has truly made a difference in my drumming journey.

I highly recommend Inglewood Music Lessons! My son has been taking lessons with John for the past 5 years and his patience and guidance with younger students is remarkable. My son has taken guitar and drum lessons so far and will more than likely add piano next year.
My son is currently at Nashville School of the Arts and I owe a lot of this to John for seeing the gift of music that my son had inside him at the age of 9 and helping to bring it out.
